ABOUT
Playing guitar for more than 15 years and with two music degrees, Shields has taught music and theory from Minnesota to Tennessee. Now based in Nashville, Jon blends multiple genres from R&B and country all the way to classical and jazz. Having played in bands with the likes of Mary Wilson of the Supremes, his own jazz trio, and in groups opening for top country acts, Shields has built a reputable name as a guitarist and educator.
With an early background in rock, folk, and country as well as a collegiate level of jazz, classical, and theory; Jon is well versed in many styles and pedagogies to help any age and genre level.
For In-Home Lessons: Add $10 to the price for every time the teacher will drive to your location. So if you want the “3 Monthly” rate at the convenience of your own home, add $30 to the total monthly price... “4 Monthly” would be an extra $40, etc.
NOTE: This rate varies per teacher and also depends on the distance to the student’s home.
