Electric Guitar Lessons

If you are new to the world of guitar, starting with electric is often the most rewarding and immediately inspiring.  New students often struggle with finger strength and dexterity so anything to make learning a little easier is helpful.  Electric guitars are typically the easiest to play because the strings are lighter and closer to the fretboard. Not only that, students can use an amplifier and pedals to create a variety of tones emulating famous artists from every decade.  When you can sound more like the legends you love, practice becomes far more enjoyable.

The genres that can be studied with electric guitar range far and wide whether you are a beginner or an advanced player.  From the early roots of Blues and Rock & Roll, to the Classic Rock of the 60's and 70's, to Hard Rock and Metal, to Punk Rock, to Country, Funk, Soul, R&B, Reggae, Surf and many more;  the electric guitar is one of the most widespread and versatile instruments of all time.  At Guitar Lesson Pros, there is no limit to what styles can be incorporated into a student's own unique path of learning.

Acoustic Guitar Lessons

Imagine sitting around a campfire on a cool autumn night singing songs with a group of friends and enjoying a getaway from everyday life.  Welcome to the world of acoustic guitar.  No cables or amplifiers necessary.  Just grab and go wherever your heart desires.  This is for students who want to learn how to strum chords so they can play and sing along to their favorite songs in nearly any genre.  As students advance, more intricate styles of fingerpicking can be introduced.  Think folk, singer/songwriter, country, old school blues, bluegrass, americana, and even some classic rock.

Although steel string acoustic guitar can be some of the hardest guitars for the hands to learn on, it makes transitioning to other types of guitars a breeze.  Imagine putting a weighted donut on a baseball bat and swinging for a few minutes then taking it off.  It's super easy at that point!  Well, moving from acoustic guitar to electric guitar can have the same effect.

Classical Guitar Lessons

Considered one of the most difficult styles to learn, classical guitar follows a very linear curriculum and requires dedication from students. Due to the nature of reading music, the learning process becomes two fold: students must learn to read notes AND learn the mechanics of playing those notes.

With other styles of guitar, especially acoustic and most electric styles, students can focus on the mechanics of playing without the added difficulty of note reading. However, learning through a classical method can be very valuable as it lays one of the most thorough technical foundations of all other styles.  Branching off to other genres in the future will be no problem.

Jazz Guitar Lessons

Probably one of the least understood styles amongst the general public, jazz requires a level of skill and musicianship untouched by most other genres.  Much like classical, this is a path for the most dedicated students.  The curriculum dives deep into both music theory and ear training.  This is continuously translated to the fretboard via chord shapes, scale patterns, intervals, and melodic movement.

Students will learn to play the melodies, chord changes, and solos of countless jazz standards to build an initial foundation.  As they progress, everything can be recalled and applied at increasing speeds so that improvisation becomes not only possible, but also smooth, musical, and creative.
